Position Summary:

Provide electrical control systems engineering support in a heavy manufacturing and equipment environment, as it pertains to strip processing equipment. The assignment includes writing equipment specifications for new equipment purchases, equipment installation, start up and training. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with all levels of Plant personnel to identify and assess equipment and process problems and define requirements to help address engineering problems and needs.
  • Work closely with our maintenance department and process and equipment engineers on equipment improvement / upgrade projects.
  • Provide electrical process controls engineering and data integration services including developing project scope, planning, procuring, and the managing of engineering projects.
  • Manage engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide a wide variety of engineering and data integration services from project specification through design, implementation, training and support.
  • Troubleshoot, perform control system performance analysis and the implementation of control modifications in support of existing manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Monitor PLC performance
  • Use knowledge of current controls practices, procedures standards, and equipment and diagnostic tools
  • Provide mechanical and electrical support to the Repair and Maintenance, (R&M), department and assist in difficult breakdowns on equipment.
  • Assist in updating PM procedures and documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis on repeat failures.
  • Study and report on reliability issues with all equipment.
  • Suggest equipment upgrades to make our equipment more reliable.

  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred

Education and Experience:

  • BSEE with prior work experience in electronics and/or electrical engineering in machinery controls engineering and design, PLC programming.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the application and programming of PLC based rotating machinery control systems specializing in Allen-Bradley
  • Programming of AC/DC Drives, Auto-Cad and Solidworks.
  • Knowledge/application of Sensors including, Photoelectric, Ultrasonic, Stain Gages, Laser
